H.E Ambassador Deiriba Kuma met with H.E Per Olsson Fridh, State Secretary to Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden on April 23, 2019. H.E Ambassador briefed H.E Per Olsson the current Ethiopia’s political and Economic reforms and the existed strong collaboration between the two countries.
H.E Ambassador Expressed his appreciation to the Sweden Government for its consistent interest in strengthening its bilateral relations with Ethiopia, as exemplified by the framework development cooperation agreement signed for 2016-2020, that contributes a better environment, limiting climate change impact, strengthened democracy and gender equality.
In connection, H.E Ambassador also briefed on Prime Minister H.E. Abiy Ahmed’s initiatives of ensuring a greener and cleaner city and creating a modern and suitable conditions to its inhabitants.
H.E Per Olsson said Sweden gives a greater importance to its relation with Ethiopia, the exiting and positive changes taking place with the new government enabled them to strength development collaboration. H.E also mention the recent decision made by the Swedish Government to increase development cooperation with USD 20 million USD to support the ongoing reform process in the country in democracy and human rights.
The State Secretary further mentioned Sweden is willing to work closely with Ethiopia to strength the development cooperation and will further discuss the Green city initiative in line with the cooperation.
